How My Life Gets Better With Drugs

So, when Cora came home from the hospital, she was such an easy newborn. Pretty much she just slept. Quit often I would have days where I had to wake her for almost every feeding (she was jaundiced...which explains why she was so tired), and well, life was easy. I don't know at what point she started getting fussy. 6 weeks? 8 weeks? My mind is a blurr. But the point is: she went from easy newborn to a rather fussy baby. All day long....fuss fuss fuss. Being an advocate of "Babywise" we did manage to get her sleeping through the night fairly well. But, still I knew all this fussing just wasn't right. After talking with a friend last week, I finally scheduled an appointment with my pediatrician, and got her on acid reflux medication.

Can I just say: I have a completely new baby.

She is SO much happier. She smiles all day now. Except when she's tired, poopy, or being put into her car seat. I LOVE it! I am so grateful for medication, and whoever it was that discovered that babies get acid reflux, and that it hurts.

My point though, today, is that Cora laughed for the first time.

I loved it...and I want MORE!

A Random Thought

So, I have always bought unscented wipes. The reason I do is because I still remember, as a child, getting my face wiped with scented wipes. Apparently it is a smell that still haunts me today. I was thinking about it this morning as I cleaned a dirty bottom--does anybody use scented wipes? And, if you do...WHY? Do you like the smell of poo mingled with old lady perfume? Hmmm. Kinda like a public restroom.

2 Months

Here's our little Cora at 2 months old:

I actually took this picture to email to my sister so that I could show her the cute little headband I made (which was SO easy!), but I managed to catch a little smile, so I had to post it. I love her smile. And even more, I love how her eyes smile, too. Cora is a happy little baby, who enjoys taking in the world around her. I hope she grows up to be smart, like Maryn, and contented, like Ailee. In the meantime, I'm going to continue playing dress up with this one.

Blessed

I guess I'm a few weeks behind on my pictures. Better late then never, right?
On December 19th, we blessed Cora. Kade's parents were on their way through and were stopping over for the weekend, so we decided that was a good weekend to bless her. After church, I called up my friend, Staci, from down the street to see if she would take some family pictures for us. I'm so glad she did, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten around to taking any pictures of the child's blessing. (That week following was filled up with things like the stomach flu, writing talks, and Christmas celebrating) Here are just a few of the pictures we got. Just as a side note, it's really hard to get the five of us cooperating for a picture. Maryn and Kade took turns closing their eyes, I was busy trying to get Cora to stop fussing, and Ailee was just angry, I think.

Rant

Went to the grocery store today.
Was in a big hurry.
(baby to feed, supposed to meet somebody at 10:30....)
Lady at express lane said she could check me out.
Hurried over.
Lady at express lane not so fast.
Put one item in most bags.
Paid $80 something....got 80 something bags.

Does anybody else have a problem with this? You go to the grocery store and the bagger only puts one thing in each bag?

It drives me CraZy.

And to top it all off, we live in Colorado. Aren't we supposed to be a bunch of tree huggers here? My idea for the purpose of bags is to collect many smaller things and put them together. That way you don't have to use as many hands to carry things into the house. Right?

Personally I like to use the self check at stores. It's like a game to me--seeing how much I can cram into each bag without tearing it.

Wow, I am lame.
