Plays and Playing

This year, the 2nd graders at the Elementary School performed "E-I-E-I-Oops!"  It was kind of a big night for Maryn and Ailee.  All year, during their Alpha Class, the girls had been studying inventions that changed the world.  Ailee was assigned to do a report on Jonas Salk, inventor of the Polio Vaccine, and Maryn was assigned to come up with her own invention to improve the world.  She chose to help people remember to buckle their seat belts.  The showcase for their projects was right before the performance.  It was fun to see all their hard work displayed.  I wish I'd gotten a picture.  

Maryn, and other members of the Strings Class played an introduction to the play.  (Think "Old McDonald Had a Farm)  Here she is with her good friend, Caitlyne:

She's become a very good violinist over the last 8 months!

We are very proud of her and her hard work.

Ailee, all dressed in pink, was probably the cutest farmer on the stage.

It was fun to watch the kids perform and Ailee did a great job on her line!

Time With Mom

 In April, my mom decided she needed a vacation.  Along her trek, she stopped here for a week to visit us.  It's always fun to have my mom around.  My kids love her to death, and she's always happy to help me with whatever project I can't quite figure out on my own.

We spent a fun day at the River Walk.  After walking a good part of the trail, we decided we were too tire to walk all the way back, so we opted for the boat ride.  

We also spent a day out at Wild Seed Farms in Fredericksburg.  I just love poppies.  They make my heart happy.

It was a fun visit.  I'm so glad she took the time to come out and see us in Texas!

Fiesta Fun

Here in Texas, Fiesta is a pretty big thing.  The schools plan lots of fun activities to celebrate, and this year Cora got to join in on the celebrations, too. Her preschool did a Shoebox Float parade.

The elementary school also puts on a carnival for the kids for Fiesta.  I was volunteering while Ailee was out with her class, so I got to watch her play "Pie Face."

When the Roundies Get Together

Shad and Allison and their family came out to Texas in April.  It was so fun to be able to spend some time with them.  However, I didn't take any pictures.  We'll have to rely on good old fashioned memories.  We did drive everyone up to Gatesville that Saturday.

It was a great trip to Magnolia Market.  This had been on my bucket list for quite some time.  I'm sure I'll have to go back again, and maybe actually buy something pretty.

When we got back to Gatesville, Katie pulled out her camera and got some cute pictures of all the kids playing in the field of bluebonnets across the street from Kurt and Stacey's house.

 It was a fun way to spend our day! Its always nice to have a reason to get together with family!
